<aside> 👉 At this page you will get a deeper sense of the LALA Career Program, why it is important, what we have been discovering during the last months.

Over the last months, LALA started experimenting with an Internship Program to directly address key barriers in LALumni's leadership journeys: Financial, Professional Skills, Entry into Careers, and Access to Social Capital.

The results from the pilot have been beyond promising. Partner organizations have been willing to pay LALumni US$300 per month (for context, Brazil has a minimum wage of US$155 and average household income per capita of BRL 1380, or US$250). For our lowest-income participants, this is life-changing, given the lack of social mobility in the region.

Note: While Brazil and Colombia have exceptionally low mobility rates in this OECD study, the results are not broken down by race, rural origin, gender, etc. From our experience in the region, we have strong reasons to believe that mobility rates for BIPOC Latin Americans, especially if female, LGBTQ+, from rural backgrounds, etc., is radically lower still.

Participants—on both sides of the match—loved it:

LALumni gave the program a +94 Net Promoter Score (NPS)...

"A great start to young students who are looking for a first job experience in companies that are aligned with their values."  Cecilia Luz

"It truly made me grow professionally and academically in a safe, nurturing environment. It was essential to my development and entry on the market.” Bianca Freire

“An excellent opportunity to learn new things and even to know if it's the career you want to pursue.” Alfieri Jesus

... and partner Employers gave it a perfect +100 NPS!

"The entire internship process was very careful, ethical and professional. The match with Bianca was perfect! As our organization was already an inspiration for her, it was very beautiful to see the impact of our work on her life.” Larissa Dionisio - Instituto Update
